Media information for Classic Motorcycle Mechanics

March - No. 269
Classic Motorcycle Mechanics is a motorcycle magazine which predominantly focuses on all Japanese classic motorcycles from the 60s right through to the early 90s.
The magazine has a long history, with origins in the early 80s, and more recently found its specific Japanese niche and vision while Bob Berry was at the helm. Rod Gibson took over as the editor seven years ago, created and refined it, and was a major part of the magazine that Japanese classic motorcycle enthusiasts all over the world recognise and love today.
Interestingly, it is a magazine that has created a uniquely passionate following, which love their choice of reading material and freely express this at all the shows Mortons attend.
Like many of the Mortons portfolio of successful motorcycle titles, CMM is a niche magazine with a very specific focus on the classic Japanese motorcycle scene which is rapidly expanding with people buying bikes to restore, own and enjoy and/or as current and future investments.
This trend can be explained by CMM's demographic coming of age with so many motorcyclists of the ages 30-60, who are keen and able to tinker and have been brought up on a diet of Japanese bikes and now, are wanting and financially able to ride the motorcycles they owned or dreamed of owning in their youth.
CMM capitalises on this situation and is able to fuel our readership's need for nostalgia and inspire and help in their own projects while providing intelligent and indepth articles backed up with fantastic photography and choice of bikes that our readership expects and demands.
Looking at CMM today, with its imminent relaunch on 17 March, is extremely exciting. The title is evolving again with an increase in editorial content, a new front cover, becoming perfect bound and having a new editor.
Ben Wilkins is on board who, like his predecessor Rod, is truly passionate about Japanese classics. This will strengthen and reinforce CMM's position as the market leader in its field while hopefully continuing the magazine's growth. 33,000 print copies in 2007 – 38,000 copies in 2009.
As the only monthly A4 glossy in the world that proclaims to cover all classic Japanese motorcycles and also backed up by an incredible and invaluable archive of rebuild features and road tests, CMM can be seen and is recognised as a tome of vital knowledge and history all for those involved with classic Japanese motorcycles.

Dear Sandra,
Just wanted to put in writing a big ‘thank you’ to you and your team for all the support and product coverage you have given us over the past year. We’ve found the people at Morton’s very friendly and willing to help in any way, without being pushy.
Your advertising rates have been reasonable, which as a fairly new company has helped us to advertise more than we may have otherwise been able to, and you have arranged for our products to be tested and included in editorials. Plus the guys at Morton’s have actually taken the trouble to read about our products and use them.
We’ve had a good response to the editorial coverage etc and ads in UBG and are hoping for the same with CMM & Classics. We’ve also found that the ads in the Show Guides are good value too.
Please pass our thanks on to all the Team.
Yours sincerely
Niki Cox
